Language Arts

In Language Arts this week we learned about Sensory Language and Synonyms. We listened to some amazing stories and poems where we listened for sensory words like crunching, sticky, colourful, slamming, sweet and flashing. Then we got into groups and made some vocabularyposters for each of the five senses! It was so much fun.

This work is going to help us in Writer's Workshop next week as we prepare some personal narratives to share at Parent Conferences! We can't wait to share our hard work with you.

Math

This week we looked at representing numbers using expanded form. Grade 2s are challenged to decompose numbers within 1000 using this strategy while Grade 1s are focusing on decomposing tens and ones. Although some of us challenged ourselves to work in the 100s and even the 1000s! Ask me about what level I tried! Here are some photos of our work:

Remembrance Day
We enjoyed our whole school assembly hosted by Rooms 7 (Grade 5/6) and 8 (Grade 1/2). It was a beautiful way for us to honour and remember those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian military. We especially loved the poem titled In Flanders Field. This is the art we created, using finger painting! We look forward to showing more of our art with you at Parent Conferences soon!
