Conferences

What an amazing school year start-up we have been having at LBS! Typically, at this time of year, we host Parent Teacher Conferences in an Open House format. With restrictions due to Covid-19, our format has been adjusted. This year, each class has created a video to introduce families to our school, answer commonly asked questions and show details of how our class works. These videos will be released on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 4:00 pm. If you have questions after viewing the video, please reach out. We are certainly missing seeing families in our school building and look forward to future opportunities where this may be possible.

SEPT 13-17

A busy & full week of school,  indeed! We are getting more into our routines and continue to practice classroom expectations and procedures. Read about our highlights below!

Chemistry Experiment:

We made Play Dough for the Grade 1s! See the recipe above!

Social Studies:
  • We mapped the school with accurate details and a legend to follow. As an extension, some of us gathered data about the student population to graph. We learned a lot about Lake Bonavista School during this project!
  • Our class is working with Ms. Mumford's class to lead the September Assembly. We will be honouring Orange Shirt Day at our assembly and will share the work and learning we do over the next few weeks at the assembly. We will be learning through story - starting with the story titled "Fatty Legs" written by Margaret Jordan-Fenton. Ask me about the beginning of the true story!

Writing:
  • If Kids Ran the World Writer's Workshop: What would happen if YOU ran the world? Ask me what I wrote about :)

Walking Field Trip:
  • Walking Field Trip! We are exploring connection with the land through Design Thinking. To start our learning by sketching in a sit spot at a near by open space and park. We considered what we already know, what we wonder, the existing strengths and the areas of improvement. Then we played outside on the park and in the field.
