Report Cards

Report Cards

Report cards will be available online on June 28th. Please remember that if your child's mark has remained the same, that does not mean they have not shown progress. The same mark means they have kept up with the increasing demands of grade 1 or 2. If your child has a lower or higher mark in science or social studies, it is likely due to the different topics we have covered. They might have been more interested or understood certain science topics more or less than others. One of the math marks last semester was based on patterns and statistics and the same outcome this time around is more connected to shape and space which may also impact their mark. Please carefully read comments.

I am so proud of the progress students have shown this year and feel very confident that they are ready for grade 2 and 3!

Tai Chi Residency

Thank you to Sifu Greenhall for leading the Grade 1/2 students in learning about the art of Tai Chi. We learned so much, had tons of fun, and realized how challenging this sport really is!

Language Arts: Readers Theater

Students have been exploring reading fluency by practicing appropriate pace, volume, expression, and intonation. Throughout the last few weeks, students have practiced their script independently and in their groups to master their character/part. Ask your child about their character & their favourite part about Readers Theater!

Science: Honey Merchants

As a hook to our inquiry of the needs of animals, students enjoyed a presentation from Honey Merchants. We learned about their needs (habitat, food, shelter), their life cycle, how they produce honey, their physical adaptations, and their anatomy. Miss. Katie even brought LIVE BEES for us to observe - it was amazing! Students will be applying this learned knowledge and vocabulary to their personal research projects. Ask your child what animal/species they've chosen to research!
